Style of Acupuncture

At Tri-State College of Acupuncture, we were trained in diverse styles of Acupuncture but most notably TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) which is the main system in China and Japanese Acupuncture with Kiiko Matsumoto. Upon Graduation I studied 5 Element Acupuncture (sometimes called 5 Phase Acupuncture) under Lonny Jarrett who is one of the foremost 5 Element Practitioners in the world today. The 5 Element System is a more Psychospiritual System that involves a Constitutional Diagnosis of what Organ System (in Chinese Thought) is the weakest link. The Constitutional Diagnosis also implies what emotion comes up more readily and what color glasses people view the world through. It's a very sophisticated style of Acupuncture. Sometimes, both physical and emotional symptomatology can be tied together.

Techniques Used

Acupuncture, Indirect Moxibustion, Auricular Acupuncture (treatment of the Ear), Magnets, Cupping and Gua Sha (scraping tension).

The beauty of Acupuncture is that many symptoms can be addressed in a treatment at once. People who receive Acupuncture report better energy, are able to handle stress more effectively, are far more relaxed and have an overall feeling of better well being. It is truly healing. Most people after an Acupuncture Treatment report a sense of relaxation and a feeling of groundedness that can last many hours and sometimes days. People look forward to their Acupuncture Treatments and not something to be endured.

Treatment of Stress

Very few people realize how effective Acupuncture can be to relieve stress in all its manifestations, both emotional and physical. A good portion of my practice are people with high levels of stress. They might not be interested in medication and are looking for an effective and safe alternative.

“Improvement Beyond Expectation”

by EIS722 at Citysearch

I cannot recommend Christopher Hudson enough. I first visited him seeking relief from chronic back, neck and shoulder pain after physical therapy and medication had offered limited results. While I was optimistic, I was not prepared for the significant improvement I saw in all aspects of my health after just a few treatments.

While it was my intolerable back/neck pain that motivated me to seek Christopher's help, I suffer from a variety of chronic conditions, including migraines, irritable bowel syndrome, narcolepsy, overactive bladder, interstitial cystitis, ADHD, allergies, asthma, and anxiety.

“Acupuncture with Professionalism and Thoughtfulness.”

by NBM at Citysearch

I met Christopher Hudson about a year and a half ago after moving back from Europe, where I had lived for the past ten years. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism when I was about six years old, although it was suspected that I started to suffer from the condition at the age of three, which brings me back to Chris, well for anyone who knows some of the inconvenient and upsetting side effects of having a hormonal imbalance is hair loss, which for a woman is even more disturbing and devastating.

When I was first seen by Chris he treated me with the utmost respect and consideration and like any esteemed professional listened to me as I explained to him how I had virtually lost almost all of my hair, due to my thyroid problem, and how much this had afflicted me in every aspect of my life. I can now say that it was well worth it to have considered acupuncture as an alternative to conventional medicine, which was not helping me in any way, and sometimes even making things worse.

“As a Doctor, I highly recommend Chris as an acupuncturist.”

by EID at Google Reviews

I suffered a long hospitalization/ICU stay, and developed a peripheral neuropathy from my illness -- I went to Chris to try to help heal it. I wasn't sure if acupuncture was going to work for me, but I was willing to try it since my sister-in-law really liked it, and because I figured that it couldn't hurt. But more than not hurting, I believe that it's truly helped me. I think it has increased my energy level substantially, as well as improving my mood. I believe that it's helped me return to my work as a resident. I also think that it has aided in my nerve recovery, as I am gaining back sensation/motor function more quickly than I was expecting. I really appreciated that Chris took a long time to understand all of my medical problems during my first visit, as well as all during all subsequent visits. I felt that he was very honest about what he felt he could help me with, and he taught me more about acupuncture during subsequent visits, and I now believe that acupuncture has been a helpful adjunctive therapy during my recovery.
